Where small businesses burn hours and dollars

Modern Awards run to 600 pages. You've got a business to run.

Every HR call feels like a coin flip.

A staff member resigns at 4pm Friday. You don't know what to write, what to pay out, or what counts as the right notice. The Award is 600 pages.

Hiring takes weeks you don't have.

You read 80 CVs, interview six, hire the wrong one. You wrote the ad on a Sunday night, in your second language as a tradie - not a copywriter.

Outside advice costs four figures.

A 30-minute call with a workplace lawyer is $450. A traditional HR retainer runs about $850 a month, often locked in for years. You used it twice.

Two products. One operating system.

Decisions, drafted, defended.

HQ People covers the people side. HQ Recruit covers the hiring side. Both grounded in Australian employment law, both built to save you reading the small print.

HQ People

HQ Recruit

Score a stack of CVs against the role in minutes, not hours. Run video and phone screens with AI-scored answers. Write a SEEK-ready job ad in three steps. Bias-trigger anonymisation runs automatically.

  • CV scoring against a role-specific rubric
  • Video + phone screens with one shareable link
  • Campaign Coach drafts SEEK-ready ads in 5 minutes
  • Auto-anonymises candidates when bias signals are detected
HQ People - AI Advisor

After 6 months but under 1 year, the NES minimum notice is 1 week (plus an extra week if the employee is over 45 with 2+ years service - not your case). Check the contract for anything more generous.

HQ People - decide the people stuff

Every HR call, with the right answer in 30 seconds.

Termination notice. Probation. Casual conversion. Flexible work refusals. Award classifications. The 30 questions a small-business owner has to answer in a year, answered in your office, in your tone.

Every answer cites the source - Fair Work Act section, NES standard, your Modern Award clause. You see the working. You decide.

Need a document? The AI Administrator drafts contracts, warnings, PIPs, terminations, letters of offer, flexible-work refusals - 33 templates - with your logo on the footer and an editor that feels like a Word doc.

HQ Recruit - decide the hiring stuff

Three fewer hours per CV. Zero gut-feel hires.

Drop in a stack of CVs and score them against the role in minutes. The rubric is yours - the AI applies it consistently across every candidate, with evidence pulled from the CV.

Send a single link for video or phone screens. Watch the AI score the answers against the same rubric. Compare candidates side-by-side. Download a formatted CV plus a score summary, or both in one document.

Campaign Coach turns a rough role brief into a SEEK-ready ad in three steps. It also flags when a candidate's record carries bias signals and quietly switches everyone in the role to anonymous mode.

What this looks like for real

Pat ran an HR team of one. Now he has HQ.ai.

“I cancelled our $850 a month retainer in the second week. The AI answers the actual questions I had on hold. Two of my offer letters this quarter went out within an hour of the verbal.”

Pat M., owner-operator, 38-person hospitality group, NSW.

  • Saved ~10 hours a week on HR admin
  • Cancelled the $850/mo retainer in week two
  • Filled two roles in three days via Campaign Coach + HQ Recruit

Composite case based on early access customer interviews; details anonymised. Real-name testimonials shipping at v2.

Why we built this

Built by the people who used to answer these calls.

HQ.ai is made by Humanistiqs, an Australian HR and recruitment consultancy whose directors bring more than 80 years of combined experience across HR, leadership development, recruitment and business performance.

For years we answered the same Fair Work questions for small businesses - and watched them either overpay for a locked-in retainer or guess their way through a 600-page Award. So we built the tool we wished they had: AI grounded in the actual legislation that cites its sources, with a real advisor on hand when the stakes are high. We only do Australian employment law - the Fair Work Act, the NES, and the Modern Awards.

If the AI ever gets something wrong, you reply to a human - not a ticket queue.

Worth knowing: in 2020 the Federal Court ordered a $3 million penalty against a major Australian workplace-advice firm for unfair contract terms and misleading conduct. Always read the contract before you sign a multi-year retainer.

Sources: retainer pricing per public SmartCompany reporting; Federal Court penalty per the ACCC public record (accc.gov.au). Comparison is to a typical HR retainer, not any specific provider.

Questions

The things you're wondering.

  • Yes - that's the whole pitch. Most decisions that used to take a half-day of Googling, calling an advisor, and drafting a document take three minutes inside HQ.ai. We track that for every customer in their first month.

  • Google gives you 47 American answers and three Fair Work pages buried on page two. HQ.ai gives you the right answer for your business in 30 seconds, with the citation. Your hourly rate is worth more than $89 a month.

  • No. Reserve a spot on the pay-as-you-go marketplace - first 100 reservations get $10 off the $25 Letter of Offer when it launches. No subscription, no card today.

  • Every answer cites the specific Fair Work Act section, NES standard, or Modern Award clause it is drawn from. When the question is too complex, you get handed off to the same human advisor every time - no repeating yourself.

  • Two tiers. Solo $89 a month, 3 seats and 500 AI credits. Business $249 a month, 15 seats and 2,500 credits. Both come with a 14-day free trial - no card needed. Cancel any time. Single documents on the pay-as-you-go side start at $25 (Letter of Offer) with no signup.

  • Yes - HQ People Enterprise pairs you with a named Humanistiqs Advisor, and HQ Recruit Enterprise pairs you with a Talent Partner running the hiring funnel on your behalf. Pricing starts at $1,495/month on an annual contract, or month-to-month at a ~17% premium with 30 days notice. Capped at 10 partnerships in 2026. See humanistiqs.ai/enterprise for the detail.

  • Three minutes. You sign up, tell HQ.ai your industry, and it picks the right Modern Award and remembers it. There's nothing to install. The chat just works.

  • In Sydney, on Supabase Australian infrastructure. Compliant with Australian Privacy Principles 1-13. We never sell it.

  • Because HQ.ai is built for decision-making, not payroll administration or panic-button advisory. Different problem, different tool. And the same human advisor is on the line when the AI hits its limit - not a fresh agent every call.

You'll have your first HR answer cited, your first document drafted, and your team set up before the kettle boils.

Grounded in the Fair Work Act 2009 + 122 Modern Awards. Hosted in Sydney. Built in Australia.
